2What buyers check
Review
Today, the Audi A6 is presented in the eighth knee. The A6 was introduced in 1994, and until then the business class family had represented the Audi 100 (since 1968). Production of the Audi A6 C7 started in 2011. In 2014, the model experienced a small facelift. The appearance of even the pre-restyling A6 will be relevant for a very long time - the design is quite obvious, timeless. But the style is devoid of any individuality. It is difficult for an uninitiated person to distinguish the A6 C7 from other sedans of the brand. It is good if you confuse it with the A8. It is more interesting to think that this is a cheaper Audi A4. At least no one can make a mistake in belonging to the brand of the “four rings”. Compared to its predecessor, the Audi A6 C7 has slightly grown. But it's subtle. Due to the widespread use of aluminum, the entire structure has lost a little weight. In addition, the manufacturer slightly moved the cabin back, and the proportions became even more perfect. The level of equipment is not much different from modern luxury cars. And against the background of many competitors Audi A6 C7 is one big gadget in an inconspicuous package. You may be surprised, but in the cabin, even after 200,000 km, there is usually no trace of any wear and tear. This highlights the excellence of the Audi A6 finishing materials. Even the steering wheel is without scuffs, and the interior looks like new. Audi has not lied, saying it will focus on quality. As a result, the interior does not creak, the details are finely adjusted, the plastic is soft, and the decor does not seem cheap. Matte wood and aluminum... Everything is natural and just beautiful.
Impression.
The diesel version at high speeds is surprisingly quiet. Even outside the car, it is hard to assume that a turbodiesel is operating under the hood. The engine gives the sedan excellent dynamics - hunting acceleration occurs from almost any speeds and turns. There's no delay. It's a little bit of a box.
The suspension is relatively stiff, but more comfortable than the BMW 5. Audi is slightly inferior to BMW in handling, but in any case, the obedience of the A6 deserves applause. And with the all-wheel drive system Quattro Audi C7 and does wonders. Some examples in the secondary market boast an active suspension.
Engines
The range of power units is huge: gasoline volume from 1.8 to 4 liters and power from 180 to 420 hp, but only two diesel – 2.0 and 3.0 TDI. In Europe, it is expected that the most widespread 3-liter turbodiesel. But he was causing a lot of problems. The engine became famous for the failure of the chain drive of the timing system, the injection system and defective manifolds. The defects usually occurred after 150-200 thousand km. The timing system 3.0 TDI drive chain (three circuits in this generation of the engine, and four were used before) tends to stretch (after 150-200 thousand km). And since the chain is located on the side of the gearbox, the work on its replacement will cost a lot of money - about 130-150 thousand rubles. The same amount will have to be spent on eliminating oil leaks in the upper part of the oil pallet and from under the lid of the timing system (this is also typical diseases of a three-liter diesel engine). In addition, dry all sorts of gaskets and seals in the collapse of the block, and there are traces of leakage. For the cure will need about 40 000 rubles. Gasoline 3.0 TFSI also suffers from problems with the drive of the timing system. The total cost of replacing the chain will be about 70 000 rubles. Individual owners of the A6 C7 3. 0 TFSI of the first years of production (until 2013) after 150-200 thousand km of mileage faced major repairs due to oil jelly caused by bullies on the walls of the cylinders. It is worth noting that despite the designation 3.0 TFSI, there is no turbocharging. A mechanical compressor is used to compress and pump air. 2.8 FSI in the initial period of production received many complaints due to the high oil consumption.
The Best and Worst Transmissions
The best reviews are collected by the 8-speed classic ZF 8HP series machine. Only occasionally lets the transformer (90,000 rubles), but this is really extremely rare.
Automatic transmission malfunctions are more common in the RS6 and are closely related to driving style. The box will be extended by regular oil updates (every 60,000 km), which the manufacturer, as usual, forgets to recommend.
Other boxes that have been given to the A6 are garnering less enthusiastic reviews. Multitronic’s stageless variator, which has been subjected to intensive operation, can become a very expensive burden in repair. The cost of repairs is in a wide range - from 80 to 170 thousand rubles. Usually suffers, the so-called start package (40-50 thousand rubles).
The 7-speed S-tronic DL501 was combined with 3-liter engines (both gasoline and diesel). Unfortunately, high torque does not affect the automated transmission in the best way. The driving style also has a significant impact.
Typical weak spots DL501 are well known - mechatronics (60,000 rubles), clutch unit (from 60 000 rubles) and two-mass flywheel (50-80 thousand rubles).
It is noteworthy that the DSG7 with the index DL382, working in tandem with weaker engines, does not bother with such malfunctions.
The service life of vulnerable components can be extended by regular change of oil (14,000 rubles per kit). Even the manufacturer recommends doing this every 60,000 km.
Problems with the all-wheel drive system usually do not happen.
Walking
The parts of the suspension do not belong to extremely delicate. Especially strong elements of the rear axle, the front will require the first work up to 150-200 thousand km.
There are four aluminum levers per front wheel, but they rarely wear out at the same time. Silent blocks can be replaced separately (400-4000 rubles).
Rear shock absorbers (3-7 thousand rubles), as a rule, tend more than 150 000 km. Front shock absorbers are lowered much less often.
Some instances have adjustable air suspension. Air resistants break down infrequently. For example, when the owner forgets to lock it to replace the wheels. MMI has a special function for this. Fortunately, the racks can be restored. As noted by the mechanics, this is not the most emergency element in the A6 C7.
Front hub bearings end at a distance of 100-200 thousand km. They change in the collection with the hub: 5-11 thousand rubles plus 2000 rubles for work. The rear bearings are also assembled, but they usually last longer.
Sometimes it is brought to update the external or internal SRUS: from 3000 rubles for an analog or 15-17 thousand rubles for the original. The original semi-axle collection is available for 80 000 rubles, and the substitute for 15 000 rubles.
Stable electronics
Despite the high technology, the Audi A6 C7 has no problems with electronics. Of course, this applies only to cars that did not participate in the accident and “did not sink”. The affected instances will require a significant investment, as Audi is stuffed with sensors and controllers. Replacing each of them will require more than 10,000 rubles.
It is important to know about the so-called component protection, i.e. each electronic unit has a stored VIN number of the vehicle it is intended for. This allows you to detect blocks with the VIN code of the stolen car.
Among the typical electrical problems can be noted failure of the electric motor opening the hatch of the fuel neck. The defect is inexpensive to eliminate (1000-1500 rubles), but very annoying. Fortunately, the manufacturer has provided the possibility of a spare option to open the lid with the help of a tape in the trunk. It is noteworthy that this problem affected most models from Ingolstadt.
It is also difficult to update navigation maps, as dealers are asking for too much money. Not too cheap updates are costing in the walls of unauthorized services.
Other problems and malfunctions
In individual instances, paint swellings are observed on the rear wheel arches - at the junction of the wing with the bumper.
Many owners complain about the fogging of headlights and taillights.
Sometimes the LEDs of the taillights begin to work incorrectly or dim. If you can not repair the lantern, you will have to buy a new one: 12-17 thousand rubles for an analog or 27 000 rubles for the original.
After 150-200 thousand km can make noise motor oven - you need cleaning impeller and replacement of two bearings (100-200 rubles per piece).

4Challenges of selling privately
A used sedan that is still young in spirit, but much cheaper than a new one? This is not a bad idea, considering that the interior looks great even after 200,000 km. But it should be borne in mind that with years and mileage, the risk of malfunctions increases rapidly, the elimination of which due to the complex design of the car will be very expensive. The Audi A6 C7 can only be repaid with a high level of comfort and pleasure.
- Thanks to the widespread use of aluminum, the entire structure has lost a little weight.

Shows, bargaining and re-registration take time: buyers look, promise to think and disappear. Fair price after inspection closes the auction on the spot. If money is needed urgently, the purchase takes away waiting and repeat displays.
