Ford also promised a significant improvement in quality. However, the promises were never fulfilled. However, the Mustang can give real pleasure in driving. And that's an undeniable fact. But joy quickly passes when problems arise. Early specimens often troubled their owners with minor defects. But the manufacturer systematically overcome technical errors, and the 2011 model became much more reliable. Unfortunately, the front panel looks good only from afar. On closer inspection, the quality of the finishing materials is disappointing. Is a petrol V6 enough? Answer: Yes! But only if the car is equipped properly. The basic attributes of the 4-liter V6 are branded alloy wheels, an electric package and a CD player. But there is no ABS on the standard equipment list. Some parts, such as heated leather seats, xenon headlights and a GPS DVD player, didn’t come out until 2007-2008. An audio system with a regular CD player is quite primitive and often fails. The buttons are just disgusting quality. The claim that the Ford Mustang with the V6 is sluggish and slow is wrong. Yes, the 5-speed “automatic” can hardly be called a quick-moving, but the version with the manual transmission accelerates to 100 km / h in 7.4 seconds. The smallest engine, the 4-liter V6, came from the Ford Explorer. Fuel consumption is typical for American sports cars. On the track, it drops below 10 liters per 100 km (good aerodynamics), but in the city it doubles. The GT and V6 modifications are very different cars. the 8-cylinder model is much faster and has ABS already in the base. The GT features an extra pair of flashlights in the front grille (which are also found in the V6 with the Pony Package). Fuel consumption is slightly higher than in the V6, but the difference is insignificant. The flagship version of the model is the Shelby GT500.

The main problem that affected almost all owners of cars of 2005-2007 is jamming of the valve of ventilation of the fuel tank. As a result, the refueling took a lot of time, since the “gun” and then “shot off”. The faulty audio system did not allow you to get the maximum pleasure on long trips. The Ford Mustang is a good car without a true sporty character.

Special version of Shelby GT500

The most powerful and expensive version was (and is) the Shelby GT500. The car is equipped with a 5.4-liter 24-valve V8 with a mechanical supercharger. The declared power is 500 hp, but measurements on the stand showed that the parameter was overstated, and the real result was lower. It turned out that the reason for the wrong size of the air filter.

The Shelby GT500 is very fast and has a lot of potential for tuning. Small but thoughtful changes allow you to achieve the return of the engine over 600 hp. Unfortunately, the chassis and clutch are quickly surrendered even under a serial engine of 5.4 liters. The suspension is stiffer than in a regular Mustang, and the sleeves of the levers are too weak. Fuel consumption? There is no upper limit for the flagship.
