Geely MK Cross

Geely Mk Cross entered the Russian market in 2011. Assembly with welding and painting of the body was organized in Cherkessk at the Derways plant. At the end of 2015, the production of the model was discontinued, and the remains were sold out in the spring of 2016. MK Cross is an uplifted version of the Geely MK2 hatchback. Both cars are built on the same platform with the Jili MK sedan, which is based on the first generation Toyota Yaris / Vios technologies (1999-2005). The pseudocrossover stands out with an increased ground clearance up to 175 mm, a sham kit, moldings on the doors and roof rails. MK Cross was offered in two trim levels. The basic version of Comfort had two airbags, air conditioning, GUR, 4 electric windows, electric drive and heated mirrors, ABS and EBD. The more advanced Luxury was complemented by an electric-powered hatch and a “leather salon”. Heated seats, unfortunately, in any of the configurations was not provided. In crash tests according to ANCAP (Australia and New Zealand), the MK hatchback earned three stars, gaining 8.4 points out of 16 possible.

Engines

Jili MK Cross was equipped with only one engine - a gasoline atmospheric 1.5 liters and a capacity of 94 hp. The engine is a licensed copy of the 5A-FE developed by Toyota.

The gas distribution mechanism is driven by a gear belt, which is recommended to be changed every 60,000 km (1.5-2 thousand rubles with work).

The same interval should be observed between the adjustments of the valve gap, otherwise the valves may be burned (more often presses the intake). The gaps are corrected by means of pushers (glasses). The cost of the procedure in the service is about 7 000 rubles.

In cars assembled before 2013 and ran over 50-100 thousand km, there is an increase in oil consumption of more than 1 liter per 1,000 km. In some cases, the disease can be eliminated after replacing the oil caps (5000-8000 rubles). But sometimes it is found that the occurrence and wear of oil removable rings (15-20 thousand rubles with work). In advanced cases, even wear of the cylinder walls is possible. Sometimes it is possible to get rid of noise after lifting the bearing of the secondary shaft. This is done through a special hatch located on the body of the box from the left wheel.

Walking

On the front axle are installed McPherson struts, and on the back - a twisted beam. The Geely MK Cross suspension is almost identical to the MK sedan. Only front springs and shock absorbers differ (the area under the spring is located above).

The elements of the chassis do not shine with durability. The most rapid are the racks and bushes of the stabilizer. At a segment of 50-100 thousand km, the front levers (1,000 rubles) and front hub bearings (from 500 rubles) become unusable. In addition, can cover the front shock absorbers and bearings (3,000 rubles for a quality analogue), or begin to crunch the external SRUS (from 1,000 rubles).

The front brake mechanisms require regular maintenance - the guide calipers quickly sour.

Other problems and malfunctions

Unfortunately, the body metal MK Cross has a weak corrosion resistance. The first rust begins to appear from under the plastic linings of the thresholds after 3-4 years. Soon, rusty dots are found on the hood, doors, roof, rear wheel arches and under the headlights on the wings.

The quality of Jili MK Cross has in some places been a little bit pumped up. Fortunately, there are many inexpensive substitutes of Chinese origin on the market. However, they have an even shorter resource, compared to the original installed in the factory. However, the new original details have a very democratic price tag. However, in order not to repair again soon, it is better to use better analogues. They are more expensive, but they will save time and nerves.
