Most Hyundai Atos on the market are basic versions, the list of equipment which consists exclusively of an immobilizer. In rare instances there are airbags, ABS, power steering, electric package and air conditioning.
2What buyers check
Korean engine?
Among the ads is dominated by Hyundai Athos with a liter 55-horsepower engine. The engine was developed by Hyundai, has 4 cylinders and 12 valves, in the late 90s it was considered quite modern. Despite the low weight of the car (only 800 kg), the engine traction is not enough. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 15.1 seconds. In the city, the compact burns almost 8 liters of gasoline. There are also more powerful modifications with a 1.1-liter gasoline engine with 59 and 63 hp. The higher working volume and increased returns do not allow us to feel a fundamental difference in terms of either dynamics or fuel consumption. The liter engine runs loud, consumes a lot of fuel and does not provide Hyundai Athos with normal dynamics. In return, the power unit gives reliability. During operation, only minor failures occur. Owners have to face the need to repair the ignition module, replace the idle regulator or clean the throttle. In addition, severe corrosion of the fuel filter can cause problems with its replacement. It is very rare for a Korean engine to need major repairs before 200,000 km has been covered. This is very important for a small city car. Hyundai Athos is really cheap and has almost uninterrupted powertrains. Fortunately, the list of its advantages does not end there. Despite the Korean origin, well-groomed specimens never become a source of serious technical problems and in terms of reliability, no worse than their European competitors.
Few faults and cheap repairs
Reliability reports show that over time, the cushion under the gearbox is surrendered, the suspension levers appear, the switch on the steering column fails and the trunk shelf mounts are destroyed. In addition to regular replacement of the belt, you can not forget about changing the oil in the gearbox. The manufacturer recommends performing the last procedure an average of once every 30,000 km. And it's not a joke! Exceeding the interval can dramatically reduce the service life of the transmission. Original spare parts are relatively expensive. However, there is no need to worry too much. Many car stores have fairly good and inexpensive substitutes. The layout of Hyundai Athos allows you to combine the advantages of a small urban hatchback and a minivan. Structurally, the Athos is closer to the Hyundai Accent, but in terms of attractiveness, it does not reach its European competitors. With minor additions, the Prime version looks much better than the standard Atos. Compact dimensions are the main advantage of the model. Maneuvering in parking lots and narrow streets is not difficult. The cubic shape and vertical landing allow you to accommodate four adult passengers inside the Korean. Hyundai Athos offers a really large trunk: 263-1084 liters. This is not achievable in segment A. The dashboard is simple and easy to read. Inside, shades of black and gray prevail, and the quality of materials is low. The tall and narrow body was a nightmare for the engineers responsible for the suspension.

4Challenges of selling privately
It is worth noting that the small Hyundai Atos can surprise you. It is practical, has a spacious interior, low price, and, most importantly, does not break down at every step. Hyundai Athos is the right Korean car that should not be discounted when choosing a model of the A segment. A small Hyundai with many advantages will not disappoint.
- Korean engine?: Owners have to deal with the need to repair the ignition module, replace the idle regulator or clean the throttle.
- Few malfunctions and cheap repairs: Reliability reports show that over time, the cushion under the gearbox is surrendered, suspension levers are backlashed, the switch on the steering column fails and the trunk shelf mounts are destroyed.
Shows, bargaining and re-registration take time: buyers look, promise to think and disappear. Fair price after inspection closes the auction on the spot. If money is needed urgently, the purchase takes away waiting and repeat displays.
