2What buyers check
Review
The first generation Hyundai i30 is a good car. But it lacked character a bit, and there were quality flaws (especially in the early years of release). The second generation was supposed to be a real event, allowing you to fight on equal terms with strong golfers. In the asset Hyundai I 30 attractive appearance, good finishing quality, practical and spacious body, more driver assistance systems, modernized engines and improved suspension. Today, we can say that the i30 series JD is a durable car. Serious problems can be counted on the fingers of one hand. Small ones - a little more, but their number does not go beyond common sense. In addition, many of them are eliminated quite cheaply. The first thing you need to praise the body - both for the look and for the performance. Whether it’s the 3d version (called a coupe – a youth offer), the 5d (a typical family hatchback) or the wagon (very good cargo-passenger performance), you can count on an interesting look. Some even believe that facelifting (in 2015) has done more harm than it has helped. But it's a matter of taste. On the other hand, there are no serious complaints about the quality of fitting body parts and the thickness of the paint coating (much more than 100 microns). However, the stability of the lacquer is not enough - it is subject to the appearance of scratches and chips. And on the trunk door, you may find swelling of paint. As for the interior, it also deserves positive evaluation.
Engines
The choice of engines is quite simple. Motorists with a calm disposition, who are more efficient than dynamics, can opt for a basic gasoline ambient 1.4 liters. If you are looking for a moderately dynamic motor with reasonable operating costs, then definitely choose 1.6 MPI / 130 hp. However, 1.6/G4FG is often a concern because of the risk of catalyst failure and the possibility of particles entering the cylinders. As a result, bullies appear on the walls of the cylinders, and oil consumption increases. The cases are not general, but they do occur. Capital repairs will cost 60-70 thousand rubles. In order to avoid unforeseen problems, many owners rush to remove the catalyst, installing a flame arrester instead (2-8 thousand rubles). The right support of the engine (hydropor) can be surrendered after 120-150 thousand km (3000 rubles for an analogue). And engine failures can be caused by the failure of one of the ignition coils (2000 rubles for the original). Version 1.6 GDI/135 hp is great on paper. Yes, the dynamics are good, but the average fuel consumption of 5.3 liters promised by Hyundai is almost unattainable. The more realistic figures are 7.5 liters. Among the disadvantages, we can note periodically observed leaks through sealing of the camshaft position sensor. In the machines of the initial period of production, there were isolated cases of turning the liners after 100,000 km. Usually everything is decided within the guarantee. There is also a top-end version of the 1.6 Turbo GDI, but this is rare in the secondary market. The engine was introduced in 2015.
Transmission
In a pair of engines installed 6-speed gearbox - mechanical or automatic (except for versions with the basic 1.4).
The clutch of the manual transmission usually serves more than 150,000 km (7,000 rubles per set). In some instances, leaks through the glands of the gearbox were observed. And after 90-120 thousand kilometers, a backlash of the clutch pedal appeared due to wear of the plastic rod of the main clutch cylinder (700 rubles).
The machine does not cause serious complaints. Owners complain only about noticeable kicks when braking. The disease is eliminated by pouring a modified firmware ECU box from Kia Ceed JD (about 3000 rubles). However, this recipe is suitable only for owners of pre-restyling machines 2012-2015 release. Updated versions received a combined engine control unit and automatic transmission.
Walking
Hyundai Ai 30 boasts comfort, as the suspension is quite gently filters irregularities. However, this affected the accuracy of steering when cornering at high speed. However, the steering does not give the correct feedback even in richer versions with the Flex Steer system, which has three modes of operation: normal, sporty and comfortable. In running most often, complaints are caused by the low quality of original brake discs and pads (brand substitutes are recommended). The comments concern the stabilizer racks and the support bearings of the front shock absorbers (repair is inexpensive). Ball supports (1000 rubles), the Silent blocks of the front and rear levers can wear closer to 100,000 km. Fortunately, the design of the levers allows you to replace only the defective element. The cost of the front lever in the collection is 3300 rubles. With age, like many other cars, the collapsed bolts of the rear suspension sour. To adjust the geometry of the rear wheels, you have to cut the bolts and change the collapsed Silentblocks. A little later, the turn of shock absorbers (2-3 thousand rubles for the rear and 8-15 thousand rubles for the front). And after 5-6 years, the rear springs subside (about 2000 rubles). Sometimes the front or rear bearings integrated into the hub begin to make noise (5-7 thousand rubles). After 100-140 thousand km can knock the steering rack - wear plastic bushings. And on the tires no, no, and breaks the studs of the wheels. The blame for this lies on the masters, who barely string the nut, take on the pneumatic nut.
Other problems and malfunctions
Sometimes the rear sensors ABS refuse (3000 rubles for the original). Often the fault is caused by a wiring break.
Sometimes the rear parking sensors fail.
There are known episodes with hanging factory navigation. In this case, software updates help.
After 150-200 thousand km can make noise the engine of the stove.
But overall, electrics are the i30's strong suit.
