Value my car1Why buyers choose this model
Kia Sportage 3 was released in 2010, and in 2016 it was replaced by another version. The third generation Korean SUV is a huge step forward, especially compared to its predecessor. He is proud to compete with the best in the segment.
2What buyers check
Design features
Like most competitors, the Kia Sportage was offered both with front wheel drive only and with rear-wheel connection - using an electromagnetic coupling. Basic versions were equipped with a 5- or 6-speed manual transmission, the rest - a 6-speed automatic. While in the car you move alone, the chassis of Kia Sport will not cause complaints. But with full load, the situation changes. Already quite dense suspension practically ceases to filter defects of the roadway. On irregularities there is a shivering, which gives to the steering wheel (especially clearly in the presence of low-profile tires). The steering is a little fresh and little informative. But the crossover is being managed very well. The interior is comfortable, ergonomic, simple and qualitatively assembled. The front panel has clear functional keys, and the instruments are easy to read. The seats are comfortable even in the back. While driving, you feel comfortable, but there is limited visibility in the rear hemisphere. All hope is for parking sensors. On the market you can find Kia Sportage with the base engines 1.7 CRDi (117 hp), 1.6 GDI (135 hp) or even with a hurricane 2-liter turbo engine. These modifications were not officially offered in Russia. For domestic buyers, only 2-liter engines were intended: gasoline with a capacity of 150 hp and two diesel engines - 136 and 180 hp. The automatic box paired with these units works quite smoothly and quickly. But the rate of fire DSG from it should not be expected. The mechanics had only 5 gears. After restyling, the number of gears increased to six.
Typical problems and malfunctions
As for reliability, the Kia Sportage does not give serious reasons for concern even after 100,000 km. However, much depends on the attitude of the owner. However, many complaints are received about the durability of serial brakes and chassis elements. On a broken road, the suspension wears out relatively quickly. And the dirt roads, especially not for this car. By 100,000 km can knock the steering rack and shock absorbers. You may need to replace the front levers - wear out the Silentblocks and ball supports. For turbo diesels are characterized by standard problems. Among other things, diesel engines are demanding to warm up and cool. Large loads on the cold engine lead to cracks, and turning off the engine with the “hot” turbine is fraught with its failure. Don’t forget things like the dual-mass flywheel, clutch and EGR valve... However, nothing is ordinary, the weaknesses are the same as other modern diesel engines. However, in general, Kia turbo diesels are quite reliable. Gasoline engines are even more durable. However, it is not without minor troubles. Owners report problems with the ignition system and failures in the emission control system (oxygen sensors and catalyst) – Check lights up, and the engine goes into emergency mode. Unfortunately, there have been several cases of bullies in the cylinders of 2-liter gasoline atmospheric units. When a defect was detected during the warranty period, the manufacturer changed the engine under warranty.
