Interior

Mercedes B-class attracts primarily cozy interior. Most of all, the chairs that seem perfect deserve praise. Inside there is a feeling of spaciousness and good visibility. From the first few miles, it is clear that Mercedes is very easy to use. This applies to excellent ergonomics and a nice gearbox.

Perhaps this is the secret of the success that the B-Class enjoys in Europe among older motorists. The B-Klasse is also popular among young drivers who choose it as a big family car.

When it comes to solid interior decoration, Mercedes demonstrates exemplary quality. Even after 100,000 km, the finishing materials are almost as new: the chairs and upholstery look surprisingly fresh.

Walking

Few of the compacts are as stiff as the B-Class. It seems that Mercedes literally took the term “Sports Tourer”, making its suspension very dense. The running compact is uncomfortable. All the time, the thought does not come out of my mind: what guided Mercedes, applying such rigid suspension settings, which so much do not correspond to the nature of the family car. Moreover, the vague steering does not have to sports riding.

The 109-horsepower CDI diesel engine is rather sluggish and does not hide its presence. The motor makes a lot of noise out of nothing: in the lower range of revs, a turbo-yama is felt, and then the tachometer hand rather quickly rests on the limiter. The car for a 2-liter diesel engine is too heavy. For dynamic movement, it is necessary to change gears often, which leads to a significant increase in fuel consumption. The average fuel consumption was about 7.7 l/100 km. That's pretty much a lot.

If Mercedes B does not set new standards for powertrains, then in terms of reliability it succeeded.

Marathon 100,000 km

During the long test of 100,000 km long, only minor electronic malfunctions were encountered. So 65 733 km failed fan, which always worked at the highest fifth speed. Replacement of the resistor of the electric motor of the fan was required.

Less than 30 thousand km at 93,815 km, the ESP indicator was illuminated. As it turned out, the error was caused by a malfunction of the stop light switch.

Pistons, cylinders, bearings and moving elements – all after a long test remained in excellent condition. If the problem was well known in 2008, then it is possible that subsequent copies have already been exempted from the defect. Not at all! It's still rusting. All this is sad, against the background of, in general, good reliability statistics.
