Sometimes it makes no sense to follow the path of least resistance. The French of Peugeot-Citroen realized this when, in pursuit of the growing SUV segment, they decided to cut costs and resorted to cooperation with Mitsubishi. The result is the birth of twins: Peugeot 4007 and Citroen C-Crosser - licensed versions of Mitsubishi Outlander II.

The Peugeot 4007 was not successful and did not receive a successor, as it was not much different from the original. The French clone received a modified front part and another logo on the steering wheel. And in the list of proposals were missing a 3-liter gasoline atmospheric and 2-liter Volkswagen diesel.

In Europe, unlike the Russian market, diesel modifications with 16-valve 2.2 HDi (DW12) of Peugeot’s own design were in demand. The GRW drive here was handled by a gear belt. Until 2010, turbodiesel met the toxicity standards of Euro 4, and after that - Euro 5.

Transmission

Users of diesel modifications from time to time complain about the DPF filter, which requires replenishment of a special liquid. Replacement of the particulate filter may be necessary after 150-200 thousand km. Relatively quickly wear the clutch and two-mass flywheel. It is also worth inspecting the chassis for corrosion. Most importantly, avoid traveling on rough terrain. The ground clearance is only 18 centimeters, and there is no standard metal protection.
