Value my car1Why buyers choose this model
Renault engineers, inspired by the success of the first European minivan Espace, decided to reunite the body of the van with elements typical of sports cars such as coupe. The result of such a pun is a huge two-door car with a cavernous interior, unusual design and driving qualities of a typical bus. Although Avantheim had no competitors in the market, it lasted only 18 months in the range of the French manufacturer. This short production period promises certain problems with access to spare parts. On the other hand, it also means that the car bought today for relatively little money, in a few years will become a popular rarity from Old Europe. Especially since a total of 8,500 copies were built. The Avantime platform was based on the Renault Espace III. Thanks to this, the car boasts a huge interior (body length 4642 mm), not much inferior in cubic space to a small “room”. The only solution is to use only one pair of doors. To preserve the coupe style and provide easy access to the back seat, the designers abandoned the middle body rack. This resulted in large wings and huge doors, which in turn created difficulties with landing in the cabin in cramped parking lots. To solve this problem, the French developed an original system of double loops. The Espace family is shaped like the front panel, which is almost identical in both models.
2What buyers check
After opening the lock, the door first moves forward, as in buses, and then opens in the usual way. The most common ailments Renault Avantime associated with capricious electronics. Among the faults: failures of displays (well known to owners of Espace), heating of the windshield and constant reports of various, often false, defects. Typical of Renault cars of this period, the problem is the loss of communication between the car and the keyless access card (option), which makes it difficult to get into the cabin and start the engine.
The Avantime suspension carries our roads well. Over time, the tips of the steering rods and Silentblocks are required to be replaced (due to the relatively large mass). Fortunately, when it comes to consumables, due to the relationship with Espace, there are no problems with finding new parts. A significant advantage of Renault Avanttime is a very high level of safety, like minibuses.
The car received a maximum of five stars in the crash tests of Euro NCAP. Among the Renault Avantime engines, the most common was the problematic 2.2-liter turbodiesel. It is exhausted not only by hardware failures (nozzles and turbocharger), but also by more serious malfunctions - wear of rod liners. This is the result of a large interval between oil replacements set by the manufacturer.
For your own peace of mind, it is better to change the oil every 7-8 thousand km. We can confidently recommend a gasoline 2-liter turbo engine with a capacity of 163 hp, which provides relatively good dynamics with a reasonably reasonable fuel consumption. The only weakness is the ignition coils, which do not cause serious problems.
The V6 gasoline is generally considered to be less successful.

Shows, bargaining and re-registration take time: buyers look, promise to think and disappear. Fair price after inspection closes the auction on the spot. If money is needed urgently, the purchase takes away waiting and repeat displays.
