Why buyers choose this model

The Superb is currently the largest and most luxurious car in the Skoda lineup. The popularity of the second generation with the index 3T (2008-2015) is gaining momentum. That's not surprising. The ŠKODA Superb 2 is the most spacious car in its class and the design is based on the technical solutions of the Volkswagen Passat B6.

What buyers check

Market

The sales announcements are dominated by copies sold through Russian official dealers. To buy Skoda Superb will have to stock up on the amount of about 600 000 rubles. If you want to get a car in more or less decent condition, then you should increase the budget to at least 700,000 rubles.

There are two versions of the body available on the market. The first, an elevatorback, resembling a sedan in profile. The original solution: The trunk has a two-section Twindoor lid, opening either as in a sedan or as in a classic hatchback. The design turned out to be very heavy, so the shock absorbers of the cover do not live long. The lid begins to fall in a few years.

In 2009, a wagon appeared - a rather rare example on our market. It has a huge trunk and quite attractive body lines. The price tag for the wagon is higher by about 50-100 thousand rubles.

In 2013, the Skoda Superb II was upgraded. The cheapest routtalling copies cost about 800 000 rubles. Unfortunately, after the upgrade, the car lost its originality and became similar to other models of Skoda. Distinctive features: new headlights with LED elements, a slightly enlarged grille and taillights, made using LED technology. In the interior, another steering wheel appeared - 3 or 4-spoke, depending on the configuration.

In Europe, there is also the so-called off-road modification of the station wagon - Skoda Superb Combi Outdoor. It stands out with protective plastic linings on bumpers, wheel arches and rapids.

Family limousine

For the vast majority of buyers, the main advantage is an unusually huge cabin and excellent noise insulation. The trunk version of the liftback has a capacity of 595 liters, and the station wagon - 633 liters. The model is out of competition when it comes to the amount of space on the back sofa. It is almost the perfect family car.

Skoda Superb is rich in serial equipment and options. There is no need to complain about the quality of finishing materials, but they do not reach the level of premium class. Imitation of wooden inserts made of plastic and peeling chrome decor is an example of a budget approach in the design of the cabin.

Range of 340,000 km. On the rim of the steering wheel, severe scuffling is noticeable.

Engines

In Russia, the most popular gasoline engines, which were considered more reliable. But in reality, things turned out to be a little different. There are many real examples. The 1.8 TSI and 2.0 TSI engines suffer from excessive oil consumption. In addition, turbo engines regularly observed problems with the HRM chain and the system of changing the phases of gas distribution.

It’s hard to believe, but the most reliable in the range of engines is the good old 1.9 TDI. Yes, it does not impress either the characteristics or the softness of the work. But there is no particulate filter, and the diesel itself is hardy and inexpensive to maintain.

It is worth noting and 2-liter turbodiesel 2.0 TDI with a power supply system Common Rail. That's probably the best choice. It does not create many problems, but will require compliance with the timing of replacement of the gear belt (14-30 thousand rubles per set).

The most preferred version of the 140-horsepower engine. In the 170-strong modification, more capricious and more expensive injectors are used. Both engines are much quieter than the 1.9 TDI. They also consume the same amount of fuel, but much more dynamically.

In Europe, there are models with a very small 1.6 TDI, which later replaced the 1.9 TDI. A small modern diesel is much more economical, but can not compare with the “old man” either in terms of dynamics or endurance.

The diesel soot filter of the Skoda Superb proved surprisingly durable. This was demonstrated by the European taxi service. Many specimens showed no problems with the particulate filter even after 200,000 km of run.

1.8 TSI

4-cylinder turbo engine often to 150-200 thousand km of run begins to eat up oil noticeably. One of the reasons is tired oil separator (from 2000 rubles for an analog or 18 000 rubles for the original).

Another reason is the unsuccessful design of pistons, which is why the rings lie. The so-called "decoding" doesn't help everyone. Eventually, the engine has to disassemble and install upgraded pistons and rings. Along the way, it is brought to get rid of the swelling in the inlet tract. The total costs will be about 200 000 rubles. The updated piston got restyled samples, but here too no-no and there is a problem of increased oil consumption.

After 120-170 thousand km, it is necessary to update the stretched chain of the valve timing drive (about 20-30 thousand rubles with work).

Sometimes, let down and ignition coils (4-7 thousand rubles per piece).

Interruptions in the operation of turbocharging are usually caused by a malfunction of the control valves (7-9 thousand rubles). The turbine itself has to be repaired infrequently (about 30,000 rubles). For the new turbocharger will ask 60-90 thousand rubles.

Transmission

Do not be afraid of all-wheel drive versions. The system is quite strong and reliable. It is also used in most Volkswagen models. In the normal state, the car is front-wheel drive, and the rear wheels are connected through an electronically controlled Haldex clutch.

Caution should be taken with samples equipped with an automated dual-clutch gearbox DSG7. So after 150-200 thousand km sometimes requires repair mechatronics (30-50 thousand rubles).

The clutch wears out after 140-180 thousand km of run. The cost of updating will be more than 50 000 rubles.

In diesel versions, the DSG6 clutch lasts only a little longer – about 150-200 thousand km. However, with it sometimes have to change and two-mass flywheel cost 30-40 thousand rubles.

Contrary to expectations, the 6-speed Aisin automatic is not durable (offered until 2013). Japanese automatic transmission often needs repair after 150-200 thousand km (80-120 thousand rubles). The probable reason is the insufficient efficiency of the heat exchanger and the overheating of the box. Experts recommend installing an additional cooler for the working fluid of the box.

Walking

The suspension is one of the strengths of the model. McPherson works in the front and a multi-link system in the back. Externally, the suspension design resembles the solutions used in the Passat B6, but in reality there are differences. Among other things, in Passat B6, light alloy levers were used. In the Skoda Superb, they are made of stainless steel. In general, the suspension of Shkoda is quite strong, but the chassis on an uneven road to some seems quite rough. The front levers allow you to separately change ball supports and Silent blocks, which significantly reduces maintenance and repair costs. Silent blocks wear out after 100-150 thousand km of run (from 300 rubles for an analog or 3000 rubles for the original). Ball supports are more tenacious (from 2000 rubles for an analogue). Silent blocks of the rear suspension come into disrepair after 120-180 thousand km. The cost of Silentblocks is in the range of 500-1500 rubles. Original levers are available for 6-8 thousand rubles, and analogues - for 3-4 thousand rubles. Front landing bearings can be surrendered after 140-180 thousand km. They change in the collection with the hub - 10-17 thousand rubles plus 2-3 thousand rubles for work. Before buying, you should pay attention to the condition of the SRUS and anthers. This is one of the weaknesses of the Skoda Superb. More often, internal SRUS are summed up (about 10 000 rubles for an analogue), less often - external (7-9 thousand rubles for an analogue). Some owners complain that with a full passenger compartment, the “back” sags strongly. Most often, springs are to blame for this, which quickly lose their former elasticity. Sometimes they even break (2-9 thousand rubles).

Other problems and malfunctions

Protection of the body from corrosion is very good, but the quality of the paint coating leaves much to be desired. After 7-13 years of operation, paint swelling is detected at the junction of the rear wing and bumper. It is brought to eliminate cosmetic defects on the roof (near the windshield), rapids and rear wheel arches.

With age, sometimes due to a clogged radiator of the stove, the efficiency of the heating system decreases. The price tag for the heater radiator is in the range of 3 to 23 thousand rubles.

The test of time does not withstand the wiring, located in the protective corrugation, between the doors and the body. Usually repairs have to tourniquet driver's door and trunk lid.

Challenges of selling privately

Skoda Superb will please with comfort and price. However, the cost of maintaining a sufficiently technologically advanced car will only grow over the years. The most preferred restyled versions (since 2013), as younger and underwent modernization. But they're much more expensive.

  • Market: Unfortunately, after the upgrade, the car lost its originality and became similar to other models of Skoda.
  • Family limousine: There are severe scuffs on the rim of the steering wheel.

Shows, bargaining and re-registration take time: buyers look, promise to think and disappear. Fair price after inspection closes the auction on the spot. If money is needed urgently, the purchase takes away waiting and repeat displays.
