Value my car1Why buyers choose this model
The Subaru Impreza is a car that many people associate with motorsports. While for some it is an object of sighing, for others it is just a cheap tastelessness. Despite such contradictory opinions, it is simply impossible to blame the legendary sedan for the lack of a special character. The second generation Subaru Impreza entered production in 2000. The car was produced in two types of body: sedan (GDB) and station wagon (GGA). In 2003, due to a rather controversial design, a facelift was held. In 2006, to resemble the larger and more beautiful Legacy, another restyling was organized, which completely changed the front of the car. The impresa was produced until 2008.
2What buyers check
Engines
Despite such a wide range of engines, true fans of the brand would probably prefer WRX STI or WRX STI Turbo because of the high performance of the engines and special handling characteristics. We will focus on these versions because they are very specific.
Design features
Each version was equipped with a permanent all-wheel drive, called Subaru Symmetrical AWD. 265-horsepower WRX STI made you feel like a rally driver. To reach a speed of 100 km / h, it took only 5.8 seconds. Stormy emotions are fueled by the purebred sound of a four-cylinder opposition, equipped with a turbine and an intermediate cooler (intercooler). The Subaru Impreza used the EJ series of opposing engines, located longitudinally behind the front axle. Under normal conditions, the WRX needs about 12-14 liters of gasoline per 100 km. If you "sink" in full, then the flow rate will be within 25-30 liters. Among the weaknesses experienced drivers note insufficiently accurate steering (of course, by the standards of sports cars). Limited editions were also offered, such as Solberg. The engine power reached 305 hp, and the thrust between the axles was distributed by an active central differential. However, even without this addition, the all-wheel drive transmission of the car was close to perfect. Due to the central differential with electronic control, the thrust was constantly transmitted to both axles. The driver of the WRX STI is given the option to choose one of 6 modes of transmission operation (in addition to automatic). Thanks to the DCCD differential, Subaru is particularly good on dirt roads. the 6-speed manual transmission (available only in STi) works precisely, and the gears are switched in short movements. The suspension and steering system works equally well. The braking system has also been improved.
Typical problems and malfunctions
Unfortunately, the Subaru Impreza, like any car, is not free of flaws. Fortunately, there are few of them and they are not too serious. However, the Impresa is a thoroughbred machine with character, so operating costs are quite high. The most common malfunction in the most powerful versions of this car were front shock absorbers, which began to knock loudly after several thousand kilometers. The cost of one shock absorber is 16 000 rubles. Don’t even count on cheaper substitutes – they simply don’t exist. Another weak point is the viscosity coupling of the transmission (central differential), the cost of which is more than 25 000 rubles. In addition, sometimes the turbocharger was brought down (from 140,000 rubles). As a rule, this was the fault of the owners themselves, who, after traveling at high speed, immediately silenced the engine. Another disadvantage is a rather large consumption of oil. Some of the generators are failing. Fortunately, the rest of the electronics do not appeal. Before buying, you should carefully check the condition of the cooling system. Subaru Impreza bravely endures barbaric treatment and does not present very serious malfunctions. However, the cost of maintaining WRX is significant due to expensive consumables. So a set of the cheapest brake pads will cost at least 2000 rubles, and their resource barely reaches 20 000 km. The original pads are not much more durable, but are available for at least 16,000 rubles. For the front brake disc will have to pay at least 3,500 rubles.

4Challenges of selling privately
The Subaru Impreza WRX STi is not a cheap offer. But when you realize that on the track, this car can compete with supercars like the Porsche 911, the price doesn’t seem high. However, the acquisition is not the end of the cost. Daily operation also costs money - expensive tires and spare parts, high fuel consumption. It may be worth considering whether a weaker standard WRX is enough. It is cheaper to maintain, but it gives a lot of pleasure from driving.

Shows, bargaining and re-registration take time: buyers look, promise to think and disappear. Fair price after inspection closes the auction on the spot. If money is needed urgently, the purchase takes away waiting and repeat displays.
