Powertrains are characterized by phenomenal reliability. In the "four" in the drive of the gas distribution mechanism, a strong metal chain is used. In the V6 instead of it – a geared belt, which is subject to routine replacement after 150 thousand km, along with rollers.

The drive belt of the generator on a 2.4-liter engine in our conditions serves an average of 60-80 thousand km. And often the belt tensioner refuses. If you feel that the engine suddenly became noisier than it was, with a specific rumble, hurry to the service. Repair in this case will pull 6 500 rubles.

For preventive purposes, it makes sense to wash the throttle block, air flowmeter and idle valve - otherwise the engine will soon start working with interruptions and twitches. Washing is carried out every 40 thousand km and costs about 1500 rubles. Spark plugs (for a reason that platinum and cost 540 rubles) fail after 20-30 thousand km.

Transmission

Mechanical 5-speed box (unpretentious and durable) was installed on the basic version of the Toyota Camry with a 2.4 liter engine. However, this modification is extremely rare in the secondary market. Basically, the car was with a 4-band “automatic”, which is also distinguished by reliability and indestructibility. However, with a strong desire, you can spoil anything. In terms of reliability, both transmissions are flawless. This is partly determined by a fairly frequent service interval – Russian dealers conduct maintenance every 10 thousand km. The oil in the boxes is replaced every 40,000 km. Clutch serves an average of 120-140 thousand km. Updating it on the company service will cost almost 20 000 rubles, a quarter of which will have to give for work.

Walking
