Why buyers choose this model

The Toyota Yaris Verso will not appeal to everyone. But the designers focused on creating a functional car with a practical interior. The main motives were dictated by Yaris, who was intended primarily for the domestic market, where he was produced.

What buyers check

Model history

November 1999 – Market entry. Initially with gasoline engines of 1.3 and 1.5 liters. In the domestic market, the model was called FunCargo.

2002 – the beginning of sales of cars with turbodiesel D4-D.

2005 – End of sales in Europe. For a while, the car was still offered in the countries of Oceania and the Caribbean. The successor to the domestic market was Ractis.

Spacious, like Verso.

Over time, owners begin to complain about annoying sounds from the front panel. The plastic of the cabin scratches easily.

Verso is larger than the usual Yaris hatchback by 24 cm and has a length of 3.86 m. With not too large dimensions, it was possible to get an impressive salon. It can accommodate five people and 390 liters of luggage. It is commendable and a number of additional compartments are required.

Thanks to the high body and a fairly low floor, it is very convenient to get into the car. Inside, it is spacious, both in the front and rear seats. Unlike Jaris, Verso has more comfortable front seats.

At the disposal of passengers of the second row is a fairly large margin for the legs. It's just gonna be too tight in the middle. Long distances are best covered by four. The seats can be folded, and then they turn into a comfortable table.

Toyota Yaris Verso will easily pass for the role of a small van. The second row folds into the floor immediately behind the front seats, forming a practically flat surface. After the transformation, the loading space is increased to 1930 liters.

Loading the trunk is facilitated by a very large back door with a low opening. As is often the case in Japanese cars, the door opens to the right. It is uncomfortable when loading near the pavement.

Engines and transmission

Most Yaris Verso left the factory gate with a successful 1.3 VVT-i petrol engine, yielding 86 hp. This unit provides acceptable dynamics at a very moderate fuel consumption - 6.5 l / 100 km in the combined cycle. Besides, it's very reliable. Jaris with this engine is a good choice. Much less common cars with a more powerful 105-horsepower atmospheric 1. 5 VVT-i, known for the Yaris T-Sport. The transmissions were not as reliable as the gasoline engines. The problems with turning on the rear and sometimes the first speed are familiar to many Toyota owners. There is also premature wear of bearings. This is often the result of very intensive operation. Mechanics believe that it is all about neglecting the timely change of oil. They recommend updating it every 30-40 thousand km. Interesting options and with 1. 4 D4-D power of 75 hp This is a very economical modern diesel unit with exceptionally soft work. In the city, it consumes no more than 6 l / 100 km, and on the highway will please the flow of about 4.5 liters. He's reliable. However, like any modern diesel engine, it requires some care and compliance with the rules of operation. And yet, when looking for a used Jaris Verso, it is better to prefer a basic 1.3-liter engine. It is less demanding, economical, and the cost of maintenance is by far the lowest. The entire range of engines has a chain type valve timing drive. In the first years of production, the chain sometimes began to make noise. To date, the problem has been solved in all copies. Do not buy 1. 3 and 1. 5 VVT-i, converted to work on gas.

The pits are not scary.

The Verso suspension is arranged as simple as in Jaris. In front, Macpherson racks work, and in the back - a torsion beam. On the road, the car behaves correctly, although it is far from sports cars. However, the brakes are effective and the discs and pads are durable.

The suspension was very strong. The first major repair was required only after 150,000 km. Original road details.

Rear shock absorbers suffer from heavy loads.

Many spare parts are interchangeable with Jaris. But some elements are quite different from the original, and finding cheaper alternatives can be difficult. For example, interior and body details (front headlights, hood, bumper and wings). Yaris Verso owners will have to rely on expensive originals. The only way out is to search for “beu” spare parts at the showdown or on the Internet.

As for corrosion resistance, time takes its toll. On individual copies with age on the body appear "bugs". Most often, red spots are found in the area of the rear wheel arches and trunk doors.

Attractive prices

Verso is a little more expensive than the regular Yaris. The cheapest copies are available for 150 000 rubles, and for the most expensive ask about 300 000 rubles. It is worth noting that most cars have air conditioning and rich equipment.

Challenges of selling privately
